EY258 Yard Manager/ Office Supervisor

Location: Cambridgeshire

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Yard Manager / Office Supervisor on behalf of one of our clients.
The position will involve hands on works, supervision of a small team of yard staff and customer liaison.
Our client strongly encourages applications from ex-military personnel however, all candidates will be considered.

Background:

  • The privately owned company is a marina group with four main sites centred in Cambridgeshire.
  • The owner is looking to step back from the business and leave the day to day running to the staff and is looking to recruit one or two senior positions to achieve this.
  • For the right person, all necessary job specific training will be given, and there is significant opportunity for advancement.
  • The Companies main products are attractive moorings in a pristine site together with boat maintenance and improvement works.

Example duties:

  • Hands on working and management role.
  • Supervise and maintain site condition.
  • Supervise and maintain workshop and stores.
  • Interface with office tasks and other staff.
  • Sales activities as expedient.
  • Liaising with customers  when creating estimates and job plans.
  • Lifting/launching boats from water with gantry crane.
  • Moving boats around and block down with hydraulic trailer and tractor.
  • Jet washing boats.
  • Carrying out GRP/Epoxy repairs.
  • Carrying out engine servicing – oil and filter changes and bleeding diesel fuel systems.
  • Minor electrical works – check charging, test/replace batteries, install shore power.
  • Site maintenance – grass cutting, tree trimming, filling potholes.
  • Dealing with any marina deliveries that are scheduled.
  • Liaising with the office staff to send out invoices, receive payments etc.

Skills, Qualifications and Attributes:

  • A hands-on individual is essential.
  • Experience working on small boats is an advantage.
  • Assist in arranging emergency repairs and schedule maintenance of boats and marine equipment.
  • Good IT skills including email, Word and Excel at a minimum.
  • Technically minded.
  • Strong administration skills are a must.
  • Taking customer requests and processing these.
  • Ordering parts and chasing suppliers.
  • Handle new customers acceptance and paperwork
    Handle customers leaving
  • Issue moorings , works and electric invoices
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Monitor and improve site condition
  • Managerial abilities.
  • Experience scheduling workloads.
  • Self starter.
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Possess a sense of urgency.
  • Mechanical or electrical experience/capability.
  • Management ability.
  • Admin ability.
  • Open minded and willing to learn.
