First Military Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager to join our client. The business is a leading London-based connectivity provider committed to building one of the highest capacity enterprise fibre networks and after a decade of serving clients across the UK and Europe

Our client is looking for a driven and proactive individual to take on the permanent position of a Health and Safety Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Head of Operations / Compliance Lead on QHSE matters
  • Provide day to day advice on safety to the teams on compliance with the QHSE management system. Prepare and deliver Quality, Health, Safety, Environment requirements as defined in company policies and procedures.
  • Assist advisors and site supervisors in the maintenance of the QHSE standards on sites where the business is conducting works for clients.
  • Plan, manage monitor, review, and continuously improve health and safety standards.
  • Monitor the safety tours/inspections programme to ensure that all operatives are visited on regularly basis by respective line managers.
  • Keep abreast of current legislation, guidance, industry standards and best practices and ensure all worksites are compliant with legal requirements.

  • Ensure safety inductions, toolbox talks, training and briefings are conducted regularly and recorded by relevant department such as training.
  • Liaise with training manager and analyze training needs in relation to occupational health, safety, and environment.
  • Providing support for external safety audits in collaboration with the Head of Operations / Compliance
  • Conduct health, safety, and environment meeting on regular basis.
  • Prepare and present safety KPIs for regular board level review.
  • Carry out accident and incident investigations where necessary.
  • Review the risk assessments and method statements on regular basis.
  • Build trust and key working relationship with within team (CEO, board of directors, head of operations, head of departments and all employees).
  • Advise on health and safety competency and training requirements.

Experience and Key Skills:

  • Committed to making the Health & Safety of colleagues and the public the highest priority
  • Excellent knowledge of street works and/or fibre installation methods and processes
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualifications/experience – e.g. NEBOSH, CDM, IOSH, NRSWA
  • Ability for problem identification, communication, and reporting skills
  • Excellent analytical and solving skills.
  • Experience of managing compliance, risk, health or fire safety remediation projects.
  • Effective in handling conflict and dealing with issues
