JM47: Deputy Play Leader (Fully qualified NVQ level 3 minimum)
Location: Harrogate
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent full-time, Monday-Friday (30 hours). 7am-9am and 3pm-6pm during term time (38 weeks) 7am-6pm in holidays (13 weeks)

Role Purpose

  • Manages the daily running of the Kids Club in the absence of the Manager
  • Delivering a high quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
  • Support the Manager by managing their team and having a ‘self sufficient’ Kids Club
  • Managing the daily routine within their Kids Club
  • Manage, encourage and support all staff that are working within the Kids Club
  • Promote positive relationships in the early years’ Kids Club
  • Support the children’s development, learning and play and ensure all staff members within the Kids Club are also doing this collectively
  • Be a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of team work
  • Be a role model and be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children
  • To take responsibility alongside the Manager for the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff and visitors at all times
  • To ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company Procedures
  • To support the Kids Club in reaching an ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ grade with Ofsted
  • To embrace, understand and promote Kids at Heart and to understand the role you play as part of the team to provide high levels of care and education

Essential

  • Has an excellent understanding of ‘Safeguarding’ and reporting
  • A positive approach to gaining further qualifications
  • Has an excellent understanding of the importance of Health and Safety
  • Willing to comply with the DBS regulations
  • Willing to complete First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent courses and any other courses relevant to the job role
  • Enthusiasm for working with young children
  • A positive approach and attitude to inclusive practice with children and colleagues along with learning and gaining new skills through team work and training opportunities
  • Good organisational, record keeping and planning skills
