JM48: Apprentice Nursery Practitioner.
Location: Knaresborough or Pannal
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent, Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm. Full time hours (hours over 4 days) and part-time hours (20+)

Role Purpose

• To be trained to undertake the same responsibilities as a Nursery Practitioner
• To contribute to a high quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
• Promote positive relationships in the early years’ setting
• Support the children’s development, learning and play
• Be a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families
• Contribute to the effectiveness of team work
• Be a role model and be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children
• To take responsibility alongside the team and Room Head for the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff and visitors at all times
• To ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company Procedures
• To support the nursery in reaching an ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ grade with Ofsted
• To embrace, understand and promote Kids at Heart and to understand the role you play as part of the team to provide high levels of care and education

Training and Personal Development

• Undertake training to obtain recognised qualifications and attending college sessions (if applicable) this may include working with an external training provider within working hours and home based learning
• To complete an NVQ level 2 / 3 in childcare
• To attend termly 1:1 supervision meetings with your Room Head and an annual appraisal with the Nursery Manager
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions necessary for continuing professional development (these may be with an external training provider where applicable)
• Keep your knowledge up to date through training provider work assessments and projects completed on time, internal and external training to show a commitment to professional development
• Ensure monthly Policies and Procedure updates are read and signed off
• Complete new courses where applicable (some may be online) and refresh knowledge when required in line with legislation. Eg, First aid certificates are required to be renewed every 3 years.
