Overview:

First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Technical Services Director in the Civil Engineering environment on behalf of one of our clients, based at their Swindon offices.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will have substantial experience in delivering infrastructure projects of all sizes and all sectors and as a Chartered Engineer, be able to use your experience and industry knowledge to develop and support the business strategy. 

Responsible for key areas within the business – Engineering resource, Planning, Design, Temporary Works and Quality, the successful applicant will provide leadership, governance and direction to Project Management whilst also managing Client relationships and personnel who support with future Work Winning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Lead for the UK Business.
  • Lead the Planning, Temporary Works, BIM and Quality Assurance functions at Head Office.
  • Responsible for Engineering appointments on projects.
  • Holds the temporary works Delegated Individual role for the UK.
  • Ensures that the engineering resources exist to deliver contracts.
  • Ensures that the competency of the engineering resource meets the requirements.
  • Recruits and develops future engineering resources.
  • Ensures that an independent specialist Quality Assurance resource is available.
  • Ensures that the business management system is effective.
  • Ensures that the business management system accreditations are current.
  • Holds the Senior Executive Responsible role under ISO 44001.
  • Identifies opportunities to form collaborative business relationships.
  • Reviews the performance of the projects against the collaborative working procedure.
  • Any other duties consistent with your status and seniority, as necessary to meet the needs of the Business of the Company.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must be a Chartered Civil Engineer.
  • Previously led a multidisciplinary design and build project at Engineering Manager level.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
  • Expert in temporary works.
