Location – Mere, Wiltshire

Salary – £22K-£25K DOE

Hours – Wednesday – Sunday 0730 – 1600

Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Sous Chef to join our clients team serving pub style food to the public from their on-site restaurant. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to get away from the normal anti-social long hours associated with the hospitality industry. The restaurant only opens from Wednesday – Sunday so you will have set days off every Monday & Tuesday.

Role Purpose:

The sous chef will be the second in command in the kitchen, following the Kitchen Manager’s specifications and guidelines. You will employ culinary and managerial skills to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our guest’s satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Kitchen Manager in the preparation and design of food menus
  • Produce high quality dishes both design and taste wise
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • Fill in for the Kitchen Manager in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
  • Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • Comply with and enforce health regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with colleagues and guests

Skills and Attributes:

Essential

  • Relevant substantial experience as a Sous Chef in a busy kitchen
  • Food Hygiene certified
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen and team management
  • Accuracy and speed in handling situations and providing solutions

Desirable

  • Familiar with industry best practices
  • Food/Culinary science related certificate
