Location: Dover

Salary: £38,700

Hours: 0900 – 1800 Monday to Friday

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Transport Planner on behalf of one of our clients.

To supervise the daily work of the Transport Office Team to ensure that company and legal requirements are achieved for effective planning and distribution of products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Transport staff to ensure that loads are planned for and routed effectively and in line with company procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Ensures that where plans change, all relevant parties are effectively communicated with and appropriate resources are in place.
  • Provides support and training to staff where required to ensure daily, weekly and monthly targets are achieved.
  • Assists with the recruitment and induction of staff to ensure that they are competent and confident to fulfil their roles to the highest standard.
  • Takes action where necessary to ensure staff are working consistently in accordance within company procedures and service-related agreements, identifying areas for improvement and further developments where necessary.
  • Assists with development and implementation of company systems and procedures, ensuring all relevant colleagues are updated of any changes and are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Attend relevant meetings and/or training events when required.
  • Promote company values and code of conduct in all that you do and to others you come into contact with.
  • Adhere to company rules, policies, procedures consistently and encourage others to do the same.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation impacting on your role where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and ensure that confidentiality is applied where appropriate.
  • Be flexible as required in accordance with the needs of the business.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and application of driving-related legislation and associated guidance.
  • Experience of working in a team-based office environment, preferably in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience of and/or holds a relevant management qualification in supervising and coaching others.
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office packages and have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret relevant data.
  • Ability to use initiative and organise their work so that key tasks can be completed fully and on time.
  • Ability to work to fluid targets and deadlines.
  • Proven verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and confident to challenge discrepancies where necessary in the right manner and on a timely basis.
  • Ability to act with sensitivity and influence others to take a particular course of action.
  • Capable of remaining calm under pressure and be able to deal with difficult conversations.
  • Be prepared to travel to and assist with training colleagues at other depots on a nationwide basis.
