Location: South East

Salary: £60,000 + Car + Bonus

Overview:

First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Engineer with a mechanical bias, on behalf of one of our nationally recognised clients.

The successful candidate will travel across the South East region to oversee, plan and manage all engineering activities. 

The Senior Engineer will be required to have an extensive mechanical background, be required to operate across multiple sites in the Southeast of England supporting key projects.  This role reaches across mechanical, civil, and structural activities and is fundamental to the delivery of our client’s long term national strategic plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support in identifying the equipment required for the project in question.
  • Developing the user requirement specification for the project with the site.
  • Specifying the machinery required to sub-contract machinery manufacturers (conveyors, crushing equipment, screening equipment etc).
  • Producing some general layout drawings for a variety of site projects.
  • Tender with several suppliers of equipment and review for proposals for technical suitability.
  • Support the sites where required with problems and issues during the installation and commissioning phase of projects.
  • Liaise with civil and structural sub-contractors for any groundworks or building works that will be required on the project.
  • Carrying out structural assessments on a periodic basis for the buildings in your region and feeding back to the business on any issues that need addressing.   
  • Problem solving for root cause issues with repeat mechanical process equipment failures at your sites.  You will look to identify the root cause of the problem and what corrective actions the business needs to take to resolve the issue.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ideally of graduate calibre with chartered status (or working towards) or an equivalent professional qualification in a Mechanical engineering discipline (HNC etc.).
  • To have experience in technically specifying machinery to be procured on projects.
  • To have been involved in equipment projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills, able to influence and build strong robust relationships across an organisation at all levels.
  • Highly organised with a great eye for detail and results orientated.
  • Understanding of budgets, financial responsibility, analysis, forecasting experience and contract negotiations.
  • Civil engineering experience desirable.
