Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Programme Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

The purpose of this role this is to ensure that all company projects and programmes deliver the specified outputs and outcomes while maximising margin.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however, candidates from all backgrounds will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With direction, develop task/project plans for all ‘task based’ opportunities including costing and assigning of resources.
  • The timely submission and quality review of all deliverables and the mobilisation of all projects and programmes.
  • The assurance that all project outputs are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality standard.
  • The management of Project Risks and implementing of appropriate mitigating actions.
  • The regular engagement with all project stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reports on projects to Senior Management as appropriate.
  • The negotiation of task extensions and Change Notes.
  • The closure of all projects ensuring closure activities are completed in accordance with contract requirements and that all costs are accounted.
  • The capture of lessons learnt from projects and the informing of the Lead Engineer so that the company learns from them.
  • The provision of business intelligence on opportunities and competitors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • APM (PMQ or earlier qualification).
  • Ability to work closely with a team in a matrix management organisation offering strong management and leadership skills.
  • Confident, outgoing and builds relationships with ease.
  • Ability to operate within a high-pressure time sensitive environment.
  • Experience of contracting (either provision or has been a contractor).
  • Experience in the project management of MOD Projects.
  • Understanding of UK MOD structures and ways of working.
  • Experience of planning and adapting plans as situations change.
  • A proven track record of creative problem solving and developing innovative solutions under pressure of time.
  • A customer and service mindset; understand what good customer service feels like and strive to obtain it.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels anticipating the information needs of the company and the customer.
  • SC or the ability to get clearance is essential.

Desirable:

  • Technical Degree (or equivalent).
  • APM Project Risk Management Certificate.
  • ChPP.
