JM48: Playworker (Fully qualified NVQ Level 3 minimum)
Location: Harrogate
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent 30 hours per week. Monday-Friday. (7am-9am and 3pm-6pm each day day term time (38 weeks)) 7am-6pm in holidays (13 weeks)
Role Purpose:
- To contribute to a high quality caring environment for children within a range of age groups from the ages of 3-14 years. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
- Encourage and support other team members that are working within the room
- Promote positive relationships in the Kids Club
- Support the children’s development, learning and play with an understanding of the principles of play work
- Be a Key Person for EYFS children (where applicable) carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with those children and their families
- Contribute to the effectiveness of team work
- Be a role model and be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children
- To take responsibility alongside the staff and Management team for the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff and visitors at all times
- To ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company Procedures
- To support the Kids Club in reaching an ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ grade with Ofsted
- To embrace, understand and promote Kids at Heart Harrogate LTD and to understand the role you play as part of the team to provide high levels of care and education
Essential Qualities:
- Has good knowledge of the EYFS (where applicable) and a commitment to the provision of high quality childcare
- Has good knowledge of the principles of Playwork
- Has a comprehensive understanding of ‘Safeguarding’ and reporting
- A positive approach to gaining further qualifications
- Has a good understanding of the importance of Health and Safety
- Willing to comply with the DBS regulations
- Willing to complete First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent courses and any other courses relevant to the job role
- Enthusiasm for working with young children
- A positive approach and attitude to inclusive practice with children and colleagues along with learning and gaining new skills through team work and training opportunities
