EJ670 – PSV Mechanic / Fitter  

Location: Oxford

Salary: £16 – £17 P/H

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a PSV Mechanic / Fitter on behalf of one of our clients.

This is an exciting role working for a leading supplier of sleeper coaches to the entertainment industry from music to TV production.

You will be maintaining and repairing a sleeper coach fleet in a purpose built coach workshop, located in Oxford. There will also be some servicing of the van fleet (Mercedes Sprinters and VW Crafter) as the schedule allows.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out vehicle servicing in accordance with company policy.
  • Carrying out periodic maintenance inspections and repair to both company and DVSA standards.
  • Preparing and presenting for MOTs.
  • Diagnosing vehicle faults and specifying the correct method of repair and warranty claims are in line with terms
  • Ensuring correct paperwork is completed and accurate records maintained in a timely manner.
  • Ordering parts in line with company policy.
  • Adhering to good housekeeping practices including general tidiness in the workshop and return of all tools and equipment to their designated place.
  • Attending on-road vehicle breakdowns.
  • Carrying out vehicle road testing where necessary to determine specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.
  • Ensuring work load is prioritised and deadlines met.
  • Complying with Health and Safety policy and guidance documents.
  • Adopting methods of safe working.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ in PSV or HGV maintenance, repair and diagnostics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience of both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • PSV licence would also be desirable (but not essential).
  • Welding experience would also be desirable.
  • Have knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Ability to work effectively unsupervised, use own initiative and remain focused and consistent and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • AC experience desirable but not essential.
