Overview

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client who are a growing provider of professional truck and fleet management services to recruit an Operations Manager in Leicester.

Our client operates from three sites and provides commercial vehicle servicing, fleet maintenance management, repairs, a major vehicle MOT testing, steam-cleaning, and computer diagnostics on all vehicles from cars to fleet HGV’s.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • In this new role, manage the clients’ vehicles work through the workshop
  • Provide effective staff management and minimise clients’ vehicle downtime
  • Ensure consistent high-quality standards in the workshop
  • Ensure good workshop practices and a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with national and company policies
  • Through use and development of the company’s bespoke IT system, ensure accurate time, parts and data recording
  • Encourage timely and efficient workshop operating procedures
  • Manage the customer facing and administrative staff efficiently
  • Process all data and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
  • Provide prompt and accurate costings and quotations to clients
  • Generate increased business from existing clients and develop new business
  • Reporting to the Managing Director and to the business owners.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Military qualifications in transport engineering and/or logistics OR
  • Inhouse engineering, either Time Served technician or with City & Guilds Full Technicians Certificate, or an equivalent qualification
  • Strong technical background
  • Management skills in both office and workshop environments
  • High level of enthusiasm and commitment to 100% customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at all levels
  • Comfortable with IT data and administrative systems
  • High level of organisational ability, can prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
  • A self-starter with the initiative to work autonomously
