Location:  Bournemouth

Salary: Circa £70,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus  

First Military Executive Recruitment are pleased to be supporting one of our key clients in the recruitment of a Operations Director. 

The Operations Director will be required to organise and oversee the daily operations.  The role will be responsible for approximately 100 people, deployed on site and a field based staff involved with customer installations, service provisioning, technical support, logistics and network services & billing. 

A strong leader of people who adopts a deep rooted coaching and supporting style of leadership, with proven track record of running operationally solid, fast-growing businesses.

The role will need to develop a deep understanding of the business processes to drive valuable insight and deliver transformational process improvement. Spearheading the drive for renewed levels of productivity, flexibility and teamwork throughout the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Leadership: Leading the entire operational team, ensuring all aspects of business delivery is on time and to the highest quality and commercial position.
  • Transformation: Develop deep understanding of the business processes to drive valuable insight and deliver transformational process improvement. Spearheading the drive for renewed levels of productivity, flexibility and teamwork throughout the organisation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop industry leading processes and practices to ensure business optimisation is realised and efficiencies gained. Bring simplification into the process and work flows to allow transparency and easy connectivity of operations to customers and the rest of the business.
  • New Products & Services: Working to assess new products and services and help bring them to market, including readiness of the Support Teams to provide the required on-going support.
  • Deliver on targets: Develop and execute plans that facilitate the achievement of the financial goals & agreed KPI & P&L metrics. Liaise directly with the COO to make decisions for operational activities and make critical decisions to drive scalability in the business processes.
  • Metrics: Lead the development of key operational metrics. Working in collaboration with the Business Intelligence team, evaluate overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and KPIs.
  • Customer: Responsible for driving a consistent Customer centric approach to all processes and oversee customer support activities to organise and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Governance: Ensure that the Company runs with legality and compliant to all regulations.
  • Business Continuity: Working with all teams to ensure operations can be delivered – including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Resourcing: Evaluate staffing levels and align resourcing to bottleneck areas on a day-to-day basis to ensure customer and company targets are achieved.
  • Coaching: Lead, coach and develop, building managerial capability to ensure an effective management structure within the departments and implement appropriate rewards / recognitions.
  • Automation: Using automation and developing technologies to ensure employee productivity is continually improving.

Skills and Experience :

  • Currently working in a similar Operations Director or equivalent position, with proven track record of running operationally solid, fast-growing businesses.
  • Degree qualified, with experience in working with Lean (Six Sigma) / Kaizen methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Extensive experience delivering and exceeding KPI’s.
  • Strong decision making, action planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Commitment to provide the highest level of support and quality service.
  • Able to structure and process data and draw insightful conclusions from it. Exhibits a probing mind and achieves penetrating insights.
  • Extremely hard working and drive to be successful.
  • Good attention to detail whilst retaining the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office).
