MM549 – Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Cranes)
Location – Milton Keynes
Salary – £39520 plus overtime and on call

Overview
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to service and maintain their fleet of cranes in their workshop in Milton Keynes.

You will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and overhaul of cranes and other lifting equipment in the workshop. You will be required to carry out thorough examinations and load testing on all aspects of lifting equipment including davit systems, and repair and refurbishment on crane systems and accessories.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Performing routine crane inspections
  • Reporting on crane condition
  • Performing planned maintenance tasks on cranes
  • Performing injected repairs to cranes to meet customer demands
  • Diagnose and rectify faults found from customer requests and implement solutions
  • Perform root cause analysis as required, either alone or part of a team
  • Actively increase crane availability
  • Play an integral role in further developing best practice

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in cranes, heavy plant or lifting/mechanical handling equipment is essential. Candidates must have experience in a maintenance/servicing discipline performing maintenance procedures and repairs
  • Provide technical/engineering knowledge/ability and provide technical support in the analysis, repair and review of crane, lifting equipment and mechanical handling systems
  • Compile condition and survey reports on equipment, reporting on condition and significant findings
  • Produce certification of lifting equipment
  • Hold a minimum of a level 3 NVQ or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
  • You ideally have a working knowledge of the following:-
  • Gears and Drives, Couplings, Bearings and Wheels
  • Stripping and assembly of Mechanical components
  • Structures, particularly to Cranes and lifting equipment
  • Working at height • Inspection techniques for EOT and Jib Cranes
  • Complex lifting and slinging • Ropes and lifting equipment inspection qualifications
  • Lubricants and Lubrication systems
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be prepared to work 1 week in 3 on call
  • An HGV Class 1 License would be a distinct advantage and would result in higher pay rate

Hours

  • Mon to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm with ½ hr lunch (paid for 47.5hrs)
  • Overtime paid at time and ½
  • On call allowance plus overtime rates paid during any call outs
