EY77 Health and Safety Advisor – In House (6 Month Contract)
Location: Milton Keynes / Hybrid
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently supporting one of our established and expanding businesses in the search for a Health and Safety Advisor on a 6-month contract.
This is an exciting opportunity for a health and safety professional to support, advise and deliver excellent health and safety services within a growing organisation based in the UK.
The role will ensure a safe environment for employees, operational compliance with regulations and fostering a safety-first culture (electrical bias).
Our client is keen to offer opportunities to Ex-Military personnel, but all applications will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with the Operations team and external third parties, this is a dedicated role to review, define and implement best practice policies, procedures and processes to safeguard working practices for those that are field based and working on site.
- Determine and ensure site compliance against company, client and legislative requirements.
- Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
- Ensure full and accurate health & safety and training records are maintained.
- Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
- Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
- Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
Skills and Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience of formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures.
- Experience assisting with the review and definition of RAMS, EMP’s, TMP’s and SWMP’s.
- IT Literate, including Microsoft Office applications and Work Management Systems.
- Expert knowledge of Health Safety, Environment Law, including the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations- CDM.
- Up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency (EA) legislation.
- Self –driven and ability to work on own initiative while able to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members and third parties.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills coupled with strong people skills.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience of dealing with health and safety within the construction or renewable sector will be useful.
- Desirable experience is in helping companies achieve ISO 45001, 9001, 1400.
