Overview:

First Military Executive Recruitment is currently seeking a Head of Admissions on behalf of one of our prestigious clients.

The Head of Admissions plays a key role in the successful marketing of the school, reporting to the Head Master and working closely with the Marketing Manager. This is an important ambassadorial role and has the potential to be developed according to the skills and vision of the individual. The overarching aim for the Head of Admissions is to develop and implement the strategy for optimising the recruitment of new pupils and the retention of existing pupils while ensuring delivery of an outstanding, customer focused admissions journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee all aspects of admissions and selection process to ensure pupil recruitment targets are met across all entry points.
  • Optimise the intake of pupils to ensure maximum utilisation of boarding places.
  • Ensure strong conversation rates by creating a culture of first-class customer service within the Admissions Team, hosting all visits of prospective parents, and overseeing all aspects of the admissions journey.
  • Maintain, build, and nurture contact with feeder schools.
  • Assess international markets and growth potential, develop, and manage relationships with agents, host visits from agency representatives.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with the recruitment of international pupils; keep up to date with visa requirements.
  • Oversee the organisation of all assessment and scholarship procedures and events, contributing to the decision-making process of awarding both scholarships and bursaries and ensuring budgets are adhered to.
  • Liaise with feeder schools regarding prospective pupils including scholarship and entrance examination results.
  • Organise and attend relevant overseas pupil recruitment visits in tandem with members of academic staff.
  • Monitoring admissions performance against data and statistics, proactively suggesting or devising appropriate interventions where required.
  • Work in conjunction with the Marketing Manager to develop marketing collateral that supports the objectives of the Admissions Team.
  • Lead and coordinate the planning and delivery of recruitment and school promotional events such as Open Days, Small Group Tours, Group Taster Days, New Pupil’s Day etc. Oversee arrangements, review events, and implement improvements as required.
  • Initiate and oversee the prep school sailing programme.
  • Oversee the departmental budget, ensuring all activities are carefully costed and provide value for money and a strong return on investment.
  • Manage the school’s lecture programme.
  • As this post is in a school the successful person will engage in regulated activity relevant to children. The following duties are ones which all staff are required to perform.
  • Observe health and safety procedures and work safely at all times.
  • Be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.
  • Conduct yourself with professionalism, tact and diplomacy, in line with school policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Experience of school admissions or marketing within the independent and boarding education sector.
  • Excellent written communication skills with accurate spelling grammar and punctuation.Experience of managing databases (e.g. ISAMS).
  • Excellent IT skills including confident use of MS office in particular manipulating data in Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Superb face to face interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulously well-organised and accurate.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful with the potential to initiate ideas.
  • Confident and warm telephone manner.
  • Cheerful and enthusiastic team player.
