MS104 – Field Service Engineer

Location: Midlands. 

Salary: £35,000 per annum + company vehicle + 15% shift allowance.

Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Field Service Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

The Field Service Engineers are responsible for commissioning, maintaining, repairing and occasionally modifying a range of power protection products.

Overtime is also payable at 1.25 times the contracted hourly rate. An on call allowance is also paid daily for every complete day spent on call; the allowance is currently £37 per day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Field Engineers are mobile and are responsible for ensuring that they arrive at site on time, with all of the necessary tools, spares and equipment required to complete the assigned task.
  • The Field Service Engineers are responsible for commissioning, maintaining, repairing and occasionally modifying a range of power protection products.
  • The Field Engineers are allocated a task from head office and are given all of the job details, they are then expected to ensure that they are properly prepared for the visit.
  • Working on a product range which consists of, but is not limited to, battery backed rotary UPS systems, diesel UPS systems with both battery and kinetic energy storage.
  • Prepared to work regular weekends and occasional nights and be available to travel countrywide and occasionally to Europe, they must also be prepared to occasionally stay away from home.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • DV Clearance (desirable).
  • A high degree of flexibility is required.
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence.
  • ONC, HNC, HND or equivalent in Electronic / Electrical engineering.
  • A bias towards power electronics.
  • Must be willing to stay away from home & travel countrywide.
  • Knowledge of regulator and logic control systems, rotating machines (Synchronous, Asynchronous motors) power rectifiers and inverter drives would be an advantage.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have good practical, technical and problem-solving skills and be able to use basic hand tools, assorted electrical instruments & test equipment (DVMs, Clamp meters, Insulation testers and Oscilloscopes).

Location: Midlands.

Salary: £35,000 per annum + company vehicle + 15% shift allowance.
