Location – Cambridge

Salary – £22K

Hours Monday – Friday 0730 – 1630


We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Support Operative to join our client’s estates management business in Cambridge maintaining gardens and communal areas withing properties. The successful candidate must have a full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK. The overall purpose of this job is to effectively carry out duties under the instruction of the Facilities Management team on the communal areas of various residential estates, which will allow the sites to remain in a good state of repair throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grass cutting and edging
  • Regular weeding of beds (which will include weed killing)
  • Seasonal pruning and dead heading (under instruction if necessary)
  • Litter pick site and keep bin stores clean and tidy
  • Check and clean communal lights
  • Replace communal light bulbs
  • Carry out routine emergency light and alarm tests (after training)
  • Vacuuming and cleaning of communal areas including polishing/dusting of woodwork and balustrades
  • Clean windows and glass where necessary
  • Clean door furniture and kick plates
  • Check and remove cobwebs on a regular basis
  • Pressure wash paths and decking when required
  • ‘Response’ any issues related to the estates efficiently to allow quick resolutions to be found to issues
  • Covering absences when team members are away
  • Care-taking and mobile teams across the portfolio
  • Cover any site-based position (Concierge, Cleaner, Porter, Head Porter etc.) which may include early or late shifts
  • Covering some duties of the Facilities Supervisor
  • You will also be given first option of all overtime including weekend work, although this will be optional

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in cleaning, gardening, and minor maintenance (3 years)
  • Good standard of education
  • Full ‘clean’ driving licence
  • Be competent in Microsoft Office applications.


  • PA1 & PA6 licence
  • Previous experience of managing small teams
  • Skills / Competencies required
