Location: Birmingham  

Salary: £120,000 – £130,000 + Bonus + Benefits 

First Military Executive Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Director of Legal covering EMEA & APAC for our globally recognized client based just outside Birmingham.  

The successful candidate will be required to provide support to the wider business on a variety of licensing, intellectual property, data security and privacy law topics.  The procurement team will seek support to help to drive transactions to successful completion and the People team will also rely on your legal advice on any employment related matters.  

As Director of Legal you’ll have responsibility for drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex software licenses and cloud reseller agreements for new business transactions across EMEA & APAC. The successful candidate will also assist with dispute resolution and litigation management, as well as the drafting and implementation of policies and business processes.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Negotiating transactions.
  • Drafting Software licenses.
  • Drafting Software as a Service agreements.
  • Managing 360° legal matters arising across EMEA & APAC.
  • Managing data privacy good practice and assisting the business with data privacy compliance issues.
  • To work across EMEA & APAC resolving any litigation matters in a structured manner, focusing on ensuring that all matters are handled effectively and resolved on the best possible basis consistent with the interests of the company.
  • Assist the business in Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) activity as the business continues to expand.
  • Resolve legal and compliance issues.
  • Perform responsibilities in compliance with business Code of Ethics.
  • Training and advising the business on risk, compliance, protection matters and relevant aspects of law.
  • Creating a high profile of the legal resource throughout the business and encouraging active legal involvement in operational decision making.
  • Managing relationships with internal group counsel & external law firms and other professional advisors, where required.
  • Development of contract templates that can be utilised across the business. 

Skills and Experiences :

  • LLB law degree.
  • Registered Solicitor in the Senior Court of England and Wales.
  • 10 years’ corporate legal experience.
  • International Experience across EMEA & APAC.
  • Experience in Software licensing agreements.
  • Minimum one year experience working in SaaS business.
  • Experience with complex technology agreement negotiations.
  • Working knowledge of Data Security and Privacy laws.

Location: Birmingham 

Salary: £120,000 – £130,000 + Bonus + Benefits
