BC141 – Calibration Laboratory Technician

Location: Dover, Kent

Salary: Circa £26,000 + DoE

Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Calibration Technician to work for a well-established company by joining the service Centre team at Dover.
Reporting to the service manager applicants must be self-motivated and versatile as well as having some experience of working on high voltage instrumentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the routine inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of instruments and manufacturing equipment. 
  • Carry out minor adjustments /repairs. 
  • Carry out commercial /UKAS Calibrations. 
  • Produce inspection reports. 
  • Be able to accurately interpret test data. 
  • Check and validate the geometry of jigs and fixtures. 
  • Oversee the replacement and maintenance of all measuring equipment. 
  • Manage metrology audits. 
  • Generate uncertainty budgets for new equipment. 
  • Assist Test gear in building /Calibrating new test gear. 
  • Assist Engineering with evaluating & calibrating new products. 
  • Raise issues highlighted during calibration to the quality manager. 
  • Assist Production and Engineering in problem solving and continuous. 
  • Improvement initiatives. 
  • Maintain good housekeeping both technical and quality manuals. 
  • Writing calibration procedures for both standard & UKAS for Procal. 
  • To be able to answer customer calibration queries and give advice when required.
  • Perform housekeeping in compliance with the 5s principles. 
  • UKAS Housekeeping, both technical and quality manuals. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Additionally, they will also be able to demonstrate a flexible, positive, innovative and motivated approach to their work combined with an ability to work under pressure within time constraints. 
  • BTEC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering. 
  • Certified Calibration Technician ASQ equivalent. 
  • PC literate with a good working knowledge of Excel Methodical with a practical ability including diagnostic skills. 
  • Ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines. 
  • Good communication skills, written and conversational. 
  • Enthusiastic and a team player.
