Location: Salisbury

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + Car / Allowance + Benefits

First Military Executive Recruitment is currently recruiting for a defence focused Business Development Manager to identify and implement market growth strategies and plans by increasing the customer base and marketing new products.

Responsibility will be to lead with market engagement through conferences, exhibitions and other events, especially where new markets and products are involved. Direct support will be provided to the Design and Infrastructure Projects Business Unit to generate new revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • New market analysis and engagement strategies.
  • New customer management.
  • New product routes to market.
  • Marketing and engagement.
  • Supporting wider CM Sector BD activity including ToT and OEM engagement
  • Generation of new revenue for the D&IP BU.
  • Provide assistance to the Technical Manager Business Development in the maintenance of a rolling 5 year product development road map.
  • Assist the Business Managers in the development and maintenance of key country market intelligence, briefs and strategies, to inform product development and target markets.
  • Maintain the company CRM tool to manage campaigns, accounts, contacts, opportunities and long term forecasting in support of Business Managers, ensuring synergy and efficiency between customers and products.
  • Represent and promote company at conferences, exhibitions, key customer meetings and other events ensuring the brand and products are known to key stakeholders and decision makers at all levels including senior domestic and foreign military personnel, government officials, SMEs and OEMs.
  • Ensure a prominent online presence in the defence industry sector, with immediate focus on improving the visibility of the D&IP’s capabilities.
  • Ensure product design and specifications with respect to performance, safety, platform clearance and qualification meet customer requirements.
  • Focus on continual improvement of products and services.
  • Creating the conditions for trials at the Government and NATO level as well as initiating demonstrations that illustrate the discriminators in our products.
  • Act as a role model and ambassador of the Company values.

Skills & experience

  • Experience of military operations and organizations.
  • Experience and a track record of market and competitor analysis to develop a clear picture of the market conditions and opportunities.
  • Commercial experience of Bid and Proposal Management.
  • Experience and evidence of presenting to large audiences and participating in discussion panels.
  • Experience and evidence of customer facing communication, interaction in the development of business relationships through personal contact.
  • Evidence and experience of introducing and marketing new products/services.
  • Experience in managing projects throughout their life cycle.
  • Experience of Culture Change.
  • Knowledge of UK Export Control (Advantageous).
