Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently supporting our client in the search for an Aircraft Composite Bay Technician.
Our client is keen to offer opportunities to Ex-Military personnel, but all applications will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities of an Aircraft Composite Bay Technician:
- Blending, marking up/measuring, cutting, Carbon Fibre, Drilling, Bonding, Sanding on/off aircraft (setting up of breathing equipment on aircraft).
- The team deliver Composite awareness briefs to company station personnel as required.
- Follow and promote good maintenance procedures and practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Systems.
- Notify the company Structures Bay Team leader whenever deficiencies emerge that require their attention in respect of safety, risk compliance, airworthiness and engineering standards.
- Must implement and promote a “Zero Harm” Open Reporting Safety Culture where all individuals are willing and able to report any issue or event which they believe has or could potentially lead to a Safety risk.
- Ensure that all maintenance and tasks are correctly certified and that records of maintenance carried out are retained safely and securely for the statutory period.
- Unless previously reported by the Operator, the Engineering Manager is responsible for reporting to the DE&S Delivery (DT) any condition of the aircraft (or component), which could hazard safety.
- Supervise and work with colleagues under your control to ensure you deliver effective, efficient, “right first time every time” output to the customers.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Current working knowledge and experience of Aircraft Composite Repairs on aircraft and in the bay environment. Including damage assessment.
- Composite fabrication experience. Ideally within aerospace industry.
- Ability to read and understand composite drawings and instructions.
- Effective working knowledge of current Aviation Maintenance regulatory requirements, processes and procedures.
- Must have high standards of oral and written communication skills.
- Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance.
- Airframe metal repair experience is desirable but not essential (this role focuses on composites but the team also carry out airframe metal repairs).
