GC76 – Process and Quality Capability Leader

Location: Wigan

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 with excellent package including 10% bonus.


The successful Process and Quality Capability Leader will work with shift based teams to identify losses and drive sustainable improvement plans. You will work with and support all aspects of MDT activity in order to deliver the joint operational goals for the area. We are recruiting for two Process and Quality Capability Leaders for different parts of our client’s business.

The successful Process and Quality Capability Leader will support the Operations Manager and influence the shift teams for delivery of improvement plans.

Key Deliverables for the Process and Quality Capability Leader:

• Identify performance improvement potential for process capability (Cp Cpk) + material and ingredient capability, absolute yield and quality. Work with shift based teams and liaise with relevant support functions to ensure delivery of these plans is in place.
• Identification and analysis of key losses based on process variation and proposing improvement solutions.
• Leading root cause analysis on longer term (systemic) problems with main area of focus on product and process related projects.
• Reduce inspection and rework processes by optimising material, process and equipment interaction.
• Ensure correct data collection and reporting for the MDT performance analysis on Quality, absolute yield, process capability and OEE performance.
• Translate and consolidate improvement potential and losses into real money and area PIP (performance improvement plans) ensuring that milestones are generated and reviewed.
• Support the transfer of new products and processes from development status to standard production.
• Define the involvement of Quality and Technology departments in improvement projects.
• Ability to demonstrate individual contribution for delivery of centre improvement projects.
• Benchmarking of the production teams and identification of best practise which can be shared across the teams ensuring this is in line with the site continuous improvement strategy (HGPS).

Expertise, Experience & Knowledge:

• Experience of operating in a fast moving production environment.
• Basic engineering understanding.
• Experience of delivering sustainable improvement plans which have contributed to business success.
• Demonstrable structured problem solving skills – ideally to Green Belt level
• Understanding of food safety and quality management systems (QRMP/HACCP/ISO9001).
• Project management skills.
• Lean/value stream mapping experience an advantage.

• Strong leadership competencies required with the ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving and ability to influence across peer group.
• Ability to lead others and identify specific business improvement opportunities.
• Be able to communicate effectively at all levels and ensure communications are clear and understood.
• Be able to engage and motivate teams when adapting and adopting change programs.
• Training and coaching capabilities.
